"EW's instructors did more than teach my children academics and organizational skills. They also taught them to demonstrate respect for fellow students and teachers, and the meaning of intergrity."

ADMISSIONS
At Explorer West we recognize that choosing the best school for your child is important to you.
Explorer West Middle School is the only independent middle school in West Seattle. We offer a small and intimate learning experience to students in the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades specifically responsive to the unique needs of middle school-aged children. While we strongly emphasize our academic programs in science, history, mathematics, English, and Latin, we recognize that middle school students need a variety of venues in which to thrive and succeed beyond the classroom. In addition to our core academic classes, students take classes in world music, music performance, art, physical education, drama, and outdoor education.

Interested students and families should visit our school. An Open House or tour offers students and their families the opportunity to meet faculty or to observe our community in action. Our intimate setting builds positive relationships between teachers and students, enabling students to learn exclusive of the many distractions common in larger school environments. Middle school is an important time to solidify study habits, enhance social skills and confidence, while opening students' minds to new ideas and experiences. We realize that meeting independent school costs present a challenge for some families. Therefore, Explorer West is committed to providing generous, need-based financial assistance to many of our families.

STUDENT VISITS AND PARENT TOURS
Families should contact Director of Admissions, Claudia Rose, to schedule a student/applicant visit at Explorer West Middle School once the two-page application form has been submitted along with the application fee. The student visit and parent tour will be an opportunity to visit classes and learn more about our programs. During the student visit, applicants will have a student interview and a math and writing assessment. Please feel free to contact the Admissions and Financial Aid office by
